What's the Difference - Duck-Bill vs. Standard Latch & Link Buckle

Compare Duck-Bill (3 inch buckle) and Standard Latch & Link (2 Inch) Buckles

    Duck-Bill
(Photo shows Duckbill buckle lap belt only. Not showing shoulder harness or sub-belt connected)

The Duck-Bill buckle (3" buckle) has a duck's head (with bill/beak) shaped end on the latch lever as you can see above. This helps to make it more difficult to unlatch the buckle inadvertently. The duck bill shaped end helps to prevent a strap, cuff etc. from hooking under the lever.

Only Option for Tightening the Lap Belt is Pull-DOWN (for larger race car compartments) because the length tightening bar adjuster is integrated into the buckle.

    Standard Latch & Link
(Photo shows Standard Latch and Link buckle lap belt only. Not showing shoulder harness or sub-belt connected)

The Standard Latch and Link buckle (2" buckle) has a smaller buckle foot-print than the Duck-Bill buckle and since the tightening bar is NOT integrated into the buckle like the Duck-Bill buckle, both pull-up (for smaller race car compartments) OR pull-down (larger race car compartments) tightening options are available for the Standard Latch and Link (2" latch and link buckle).
